Day 1: Departure for Shanghai, Arrival In Suzhou City

We met at Changi Airport Terminal 3 on the night of Tuesday for the departure to Shanghai for the China Twinning Programme.

Apart from our parents and friends who accompanied us to the airport to send us off, we felt surprised that some of our teachers had come to the airport to send us off as well.

Upon arrival in Shanghai’s Pudong airport, we took a bus to Suzhou city, and visited places of interests such as Hanshan Temple, Tiger Hill, Lingering Garden and finally a silk production factory. We learnt that Suzhou is a city of many pretty sights and rich history.

Students' Reflections

"I expected the journey to be dull and boring, but it turned out to be so much fun. We went to so many places. Some of these places taught us a lot about China’s history and how some of their local products are made." - Cheng Yi (3E1)

"I learnt more about the tourist attractions in Suzhou. For example, each rock at the Tiger Hill tells of a legend. There was even a rock that was said to be split into two by a sword." – Ashley (2E1)

"I appreciate my roommate for being cooperative and helpful. I also appreciate that we went shopping together in groups, taking care of one another." -Shaun (3E1)
